Some bubbles with my tea, please?

Bubble me Bubble Tea was a venture that used to be down Thimbirigasyaya road, which is now under renovations but will be reopened soon. They’ve just opened up their second branch at Maitland Crescent and it’s a much better than it previously was. The place has gotten an upgraded face-lift and although it looks very much like their earlier place, the additional space and seating makes the place look a whole lot more welcoming.

They’ve continued the chic wall art at this space too. Instead of an illustrated pillar, you now find an entire wall doodled over, in both the ground and first floor. We decided to pop by as soon as they opened up to you give a first look of the place. Here’s how it went..

Service & Ambience

The staff, as always, were super nice to us. They helped us swerve through their extensive menu and whipped up the drink in no time. What’s great about the new place is the fact that there’s actually a lot of space to hang out. It’s a great place to come chill with your friends after school or uni, and that was typically the crowd that we saw here.

Make your own bubble tea

So at Bubble Me Bubble Tea you have the privilege of making your own mix. For those of you that don’t know, here’s how you can do it in three easy steps.

  • Pick your tea
  • Select Sweetness: Ranges from 0% to a 100% in quarter percentiles
  • Select topping: Black pearls, white pearls, panda pearls, coffee jelly, colourful coconut jelly, ayu jelly, popping boba

Honeydew Milk w/ black pearls | 25% sweetness – RS.380

The Honey Dew Milk is a new addition to their menu and I’ve got to give it up to them, it tasted really good. It’s just the perfect thing to sip to on a hot afternoon. I usually prefer the chewy regular black bobba over their exclusive, the popping boba and to me, this drink was something I’d definitely come back for.

Faluda milk tea w/colourful coconut jelly | 25% sweetness – RS. 380

You can even opt for Faluda without tea in it, but we were feeling fancy so we thought we’d try it with the tea infused into it. It was a basic tea-Faluda, but what made the difference was the jelly that peacefully lay submerged in it. The coconut jelly was harder than we’d like it to be, but it wasn’t all that bad.

Mixed Berry Slush w/ black pearls | 0% sweetness – RS. 480

The drink started to melt the minute we started sipping on it. It was probably the heat, because the ice in the slush quickly started to dissolve  🙁 We tried the slush with  black pearls but we would definitely recommend you to choose the popping boba with it. As a beverage, we loved the mixed berry slush. A great drink for the tropics!
