What we had
Bigger, the better?
For those of you that didn’t know, The Paddington has officially now moved to a new location down Horton Place, which is much bigger and has ample parking. We popped by for a quick review and here’s how it went!
Drinks
As Always Death by Chocolate – LKR 750

The name promises so much, but the actual milkshake didn’t deliver to the level we expected. It was nothing close to a “death by chocolate”, it was not even what it looked like in the picture on the menu. Ultimately, it was a chocolate ice cream made to a smoothie with a dollop of ice cream with chocolate sauce on top. Nothing exciting or interesting.
Strawberry Fusion Shake – LKR 760

We prepared ourselves for the worst after the experience with the chocolate milkshake, and the strawberry one did no better. Again, store bought strawberry ice cream made to a smoothie with a dollop of the same on top, with topping. No layers, no differences in flavor, nothing stood out. Presentation wise, it was quite messy and a flop too!
Appetizers
Buttermilk Fried Chicken with tartar sauce – LKR 695

The Buttermilk Fried Chicken was accompanied by a dish of tartar sauce and coleslaw. The chicken strips were not too bad, a tad bit over-fried, hence dry, but it wasn’t a disappointment. The tartar sauce was yummy, but the coleslaw was not fresh and was dry.
Mains
They’ve got quite a plethora to choose from!
Man eat all meat burger – LKR 995

This burger was an interesting mix that promised chicken steak, beef steak, sausage and ham. However, it was mostly the taste of the steak that came through. It was accompanied by some fries, and again, a dry coleslaw. The burger overall wasn’t too bad, the steak was a little over well done, and the ketchup was in abundance but those were the only two strikes we saw with the burger.
Sausage jambalaya rice – LKR 895

If we had to pick a favorite, the Jambalaya Rice it would be! It’s quite a big portion and is enough for 2, although we were told these portions are per person. They were heavy on the sausage and this dish had some depth is flavor and texture.
Our famous chili flakes chicken pasta – LKR 995

The sauce on the pasta was creamy, albeit lacking flavor. However, the Parmesan on top certainly didn’t match up to our expectations. I agree that Parmesan is an acquired taste, but as someone who loves this kind of cheese, I can tell you that this was bad parmigiana.
Have you been to the new Paddington yet? Let us know what you think of it in the comments below! Is there anything we’ve missed?
Tip: try out the sausage jambalaya rice!
