Wadei is always a favourite among most Lankans. Whether it is a small package of 10 from a Nana Kade, or scrumptious wadeis you concocted in your very own kitchen, parippu wadei is, without a doubt, amazing. It’s easy to make and extra delicious! Happy cooking!

Ingredients:

  • Parippu 250g
  • Onion 1
  • Green chillies 3
  • Chilli flakes 3 tsp
  • Salt 1 1/2 tsp
  • Maldive fish
  • Curry leaves
  • Fortune coconut oil

Method:

  1. Soak parippu for 15 minutes and wash.
  2. Grind only half of the parippu and mix with the other half.
  3. Add chopped green chillies, chopped onion, finely cut curry leaves, chilli flakes and salt.
  4. Thoroughly mix the parippu mixture and seasoning.
  5. Make small balls and put maldive fish piece inside the balls.
  6. Heat fortune coconut oil and fry wadei until golden brown.
