Murunga (Drumstick) Curry

Enjoy this Lankan Murunga with steaming meal of rice and curry! Get cooking!


  • Murunga 500 g
  • Small red onions 3
  • Fennel seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Green chillies 2
  • Raw curry powder 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli powder 1/8 tsp
  • Coconut milk (first extract) 1 cup
  • Coconut milk (second extract) 1 1/2 cups
  • Curry leaves & rampa
  • Garlic 3 cloves
  • Lime juice 1/4 tsp


  1. Clean and cut murunga.
  2. Place murunga in a pan and add fennel seeds, green chillies, garlic, curry leaves and rampa, turmeric powder, curry powder, chilli powder and salt.
  3. Then add coconut milk (first extract). Cover with lid and let it cook.
  4. Thereafter, add coconut milk (second extract) and small red onions. 
  5. Remove from heat and add lime juice.
