Another delicious tidbit to have around for festivities or even during your everyday teat-time, is scrumptious murukku. Aunty D’s recipe will definitely show you that it isn’t hard to make at all! Happy cooking! 


  • Rice flour 4 cups
  • Roasted gram flour 1 cup
  • Margarine 50g
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Turmeric pinch
  • Red chilli powder 2 tsp
  • Salt 1 1/2 tsp
  • Water
  • Oil


  1. Mix roasted gram flour with rice flour and margarine.
  2. Add salt, cumin seeds and red chilli powder.
  3. Add water and make a paste (like string hoppers).
  4. Keep for 10 minutes.
  5. Make murukku using a murukku maker.
  6. Fry until golden brown.
