Laddu

Deepavali is just around the corner and will be celebrated on the 29th of October. The festivities will be abundant and the aroma of delicious food will fill the air. In the spirit of Deepavali, Aunty D brings you an easy to make recipe which will be enjoyed by everyone. Happy Deepavali and happy cooking! 

Ingredients:

  • Gram flour 200g
  • Orange or Yellow food colouring
  • Sugar 2 cups
  • Water 1/2 cup
  • Oil
  • Ghee
  • Cardamom powder 1/2 tsp
  • Lime juice 1/2 tsp
  • Cashew or Melon seeds

Method:

  1. Make a smooth flowing batter using gram flour and water. Add colouring.
  2. Heat the oil for deep frying. The oil has to be moderately hot. Add some ghee to the oil.
  3. Take a large spoon of batter and pour onto perforated ladle/ spoon and make boondi.
  4. Cook for one minute.
  5. Make sugar syrup using sugar and water. Add lime juice and cardamom powder.
  6. At the right consistency, add boondi and mix well. Add melon seeds or cashew nuts.
  7. Make into balls and serve.
