The suspense which builds up in the book is unbelievable – and not just towards the end! Andy Weir keeps us on edge throughout the novel.
If Science Fiction is your forte, this book is for you. However, if you’re not overly fond of reading slightly long explanations about malfunctions, and breakthroughs in space technology, this may bore you at several instances. Nevertheless, the anticipation and curiosity to reach the ending will keep you from putting this book down. The rich detail and fascinating elements included may even turn you into a science lover. Most importantly, for a rather grim story, this novel is actually downright hilarious! Watney’s wit and humour is unmatched, especially for a guy stuck alone on Mars. If you ever had to be stranded on Mars with one fictional character, he’s your guy.
