The Lost Girls of Rome – Donato Carrisi

2016 Sep 17

A young girl has disappeared in Rome. As rain lashes the ancient streets, two men sit in a café near the Piazza Navona and discuss the case. They are members of the ancient Penitenzieri – a unique Italian group, linked to the Vatican and trained in the detection of true evil.

But they are not alone. Sandra – a brilliant forensics expert with a tragic past – is also working on the case. When their paths cross, they uncover a terrible secret hidden in the dark recesses of Rome.

In his dark and sinister thriller, Carrisi brilliantly manipulates the setting of Rome into his fast-paced and action packed masterpiece. The storyline is rather strong and, combined with the setting, will feel especially familiar to Dan Brown readers. The book is filled with much suspense, and will not fail to deliver in satisfaction towards the end.

However, the sheer number of characters involved may lead to confusion while reading. More effort is required in order to follow the complicated plots, character links, and how it all ties together. Nevertheless, the effort is worth it. The style of writing is easy to follow and flows well. If you’re searching for a book to read this weekend, The Lost Girls of Rome has the thrill, anticipation, chase, and every other element to keep you hooked.

RATING: 4 STARS
