In utter disbelief, Jane Marple read the letter addressed to her from the recently deceased Mr Rafiel – an acquaintance she had met briefly on her travels. He had left instructions for her to investigate a crime after his death. The only problem was, he had failed to tell her who was involved or where and when the crime had been committed. It was most intriguing.
Soon she is faced with a new crime – the ultimate crime – murder. It seems someone is adamant that past evils remain buried…
As always Agatha Christie’s novels are spellbinding, especially those involving the iconic character of Miss Marple! This intriguing novel is a step further into the normal level of mystery, with absolutely no indication whatsoever about what the solution really is! The suspense builds well throughout the novel and keeps the reader on their toes.
However, the increasing number of characters in the story (as Christie is famous for doing) may make it confusing at times when keeping track of the plotline. Agatha Christie’s series of novels with Miss Marple are always funny and charming, along with being mysterious. After all, a short and puzzling mystery novel filled with some charm is the perfect book to breeze through in the weekend!
