What do real women do to look beautiful? Here are the top, go-to strategies for gorgeous hair, glowing skin and marvelous makeup of the best. Thanks, ladies! Now you can have fun..
Dunk nails to dry
Apparently dipping your painted nails in a bowl of ice-cold water when you have no quick-dry products lying around, really helps in make them drying faster.
Hide chips with textured polish
Since the glittery lacquer is supposed to anyways look sort of uneven unlike the regular kind, it’s a great fix-it for situations when a nail chips. Instead of removing all your polish and starting over, just slap on a coat of sparkle over the current color. You can keep a manicure going indefinitely!
Steam nails for a matte look
Put on two coats of nail polish. While they’re still wet, hold your nails for three seconds over the steam coming from the simmering pot, keeping them about 5 inches above the water. Then watch the magic happen: Turn your glossy painted nails into matte-sexy.
Topcoat your decals
When opting in for nail stickers, it isn’t a bad idea to seal them with a clear topcoat covering the tip of the nail, too. It discourages edges from peeling, makes the decals last longer and gives an authentic painted-on look (so you can pretend you have crazy nail skills!
Take off glitter with felt
We all love sparkly polish, until when we realize it sticks to our nails like crazy. To remove it, using felt instead of a cotton ball is said to work like a gentle Brillo pad.
Perk up foundation with face oil
Instead of layering on powder before happy hour, pressing a few drops of face oil over your cheeks to refresh your foundation and create a super natural glow, apparently could get you along way.
If your eye and lip pencils are really soft, leaving them in the fridge for about an hour before you sharpen them makes them less creamy minimizng the waste.
Swirl on blush
Spin your brush in small, light circles from the cheekbone to the hairline to give a flawless, airbrushed look.
Remove makeup with coconut oil
After dousing a cotton pad with your regular makeup remover, add a bit of coconut oil and apply it to your closed eye. It helps break up the makeup, so it slides off with more ease.
Card your lashes for major volume
Before applying mascara, place a business card or index card behind your lashes to cover your lid. Starting at the roots, swipe mascara all the way to the tip. You can really let the wand fly so it lengthens without making a mess—the mascara will just hit the card! Your lashes will go from barely-there to full and thick in seconds.
Hands off for frizz-free hair
After towel-drying the hair, work a dime-size drop of leave-in conditioner through and then just leave it alone. Most curlies make the mistake of over-touching their hair when it’s drying, which can disturb the curl pattern and bring on frizz.
Swap your towel for a tee
Rather than using a towel, dry hair with a soft, old, worn-in T-shirt and pat dry. Don’t rub! Rubbing hair with a towel leads to breakage.
Bun up to fake a blowout
We all have those times when we’re in a rush. Well, here’s what to do. When you don’t have the time or cash to go to a salon, shampoo at night, then run a drop of smoothing cream through your hair. Then, rough-dry it with a blow-dryer, wrap your damp strands into a bun and go to sleep. Wake up to a smooth top half where you can just wrap random sections of the lower half around a curling iron for waves.
Pop pimples the smart way
If you really must pop a zit, follow with a swipe of witch hazel on a cotton pad to kill bacteria, then ice it for 10 minutes. The inflammation and redness will go down much faster.
