With Colombo’s culinary landscape ever-expanding, it’s no surprise that Thai food is gaining in popularity across the city. From a delicious Tom Yum to a classic Pad Thai, here’s where you can grab Thai food in Colombo.

Krua Thai by Dao 

Krua Thai by Dao

A little hole-in-the-wall eatery in Kolpitty, Krua Thai serves up some delicious fare that won’t break your wallet. With a very homely feel to the food and the place, like you’re eating right out of someone’s kitchen, you can enjoy a hefty meal that will leave you feeling quite satisfied for LKR 1000.

Quick Thai
With two outlets based in Pelawatta and Colombo 5, Quick Thai has a very franchise-like feel with its generic décor and average price tag. For around 1500 per head, you can enjoy a pretty decent meal.

Thai Heritage Food Truck
With Colombo’s food truck scene gaining in popularity, the Thai Heritage Food Truck can be found on Havelock road, open from 12 noon to 3.30pm and again from 6pm – 10pm. You can satisfy your Thai cravings for LKR 1000 and their Pad Thai is a real winner.

Thai Express MC Food Court
For a few dishes that aren’t quite Thai, like the Thai Special Koththu (??) or a Thai Fried Rice, Thai Express is situated at the Majestic City, Crescat, and Liberty Plaza food courts. The food might be a little questionable but the service is friendly and fast and if you’re into Sri Lankan-ised Thai food, here’s the spot for you.

Laksa Noodle Bar

A little eatery in Thimbirigasyaya, Laksa Noodle Bar is fairly new and quite good at what they do. With a range of South Asian noodles to choose from, they dish up a good Thai Woon Sen Noodle and Pad Thai. Their portions are huge and will cost you about LKR 1500 per head.

Wan Ge Di Ya

Situated at the Odel promenade is Colombo’s latest Street Food Court, Wan Ge Di Ya. Serving up street food from 8 different countries, they do a couple Thai desserts that we haven’t seen around Colombo before. For LKR 1000 per head, you can enjoy a pretty great meal at Wan Ge Di Ya.

Tom Yum
Based in Bambalapitiya, Tom Yum has an extensive Thai menu ranging from pineapple rice to steamed fish to sago. It’s not easy on the wallet but the food is delicious and the service is great so they’re worth a visit.

Monsoon

Monsoon

Situated at Park Street Mews and specializing in high-end South Asian food, Monsoon dishes up some well curated, high quality Thai dishes perfect for sharing amongst family or friends. Their Sarong Prawns are especially delicious so don’t forget to try it out!

Café Beverly
An extension to the Beverly Street clothing complex in Rajagiriya, Café Beverly serves up some multi-cultural cuisine with quite a few Thai offerings as well. From their Sweet ChilI Wings to their Seafood Cakes, Café Beverly is a more laid-back option to grab some yummy Thai.

On the more refined side of Thai dining is Thai Cuisine Boulevard in Bambalapitiya with very impressive food, service and ambiance. With authentic flavors and high-quality ingredients, this place is a perfect spot for a date night for Thai cuisine enthusiasts.

A sister restaurant to Thai Cuisine Boulevard, Thai Cuisine La Rambla brings to you the same high-quality food, service and ambiance all the way in Mount Lavinia as well. You can expect to spend quite a bit dining here but the experience is completely worth it!

Formerly a Japanese restaurant, Robata has now opened its doors to six more types of Asian cuisine. Situated at the Movenpick Colombo, their mains are quite generous in portion when the price is considered, and you can enjoy an incredible meal for about LKR 1500 per head.
