Easter Sunday became a day of bloodshed and mourning when a series of explosions rocked the nation. 290 lives were lost, both foreign and Sri Lankan, and over 500 injured. Sri Lankans are known for our generosity. However, due to various challenges, there is much confusion on what is exactly needed. According to gudppl, here’s how you can help:
- Work directly with local authorities and established NGOs
- Donate to organizations that have a clear fundraising goal and follow up in the upcoming weeks/months to keep them accountable.
- Prepare to provide resources and support in the coming months/years.
Sri Lanka has been through plenty and it is always our strength in the aftermath that manages to shine through. Do not fall prey to hate and blaming, focus instead on remaining united and spreading positivity.
