Three Pioneer Hospitality Institutions Celebrate World Children’s Day – “IN REMEMBRANCE OF YOU”

2016 Oct 3

In celebration of World Childrens’ Day, Sri Lankan Cares, the charitable arm of Sri Lankan Airlines; South Asia’s Grand Dame’s Galle Face Hotel and the pioneers in the transport world in Sri Lanka, Ebert Silva; joined hands for the second year to make children their main focus, under the theme ‘In remembrance of you.

Children’s Day was not simply a day to celebrate children for who they are, but for them to enjoy a journey of hospitality. A culture of giving is one of the defining features of a successful society and the three companies that joined hands on this occasion did yeoman service, particularly in recognizing the children of fallen and disabled heroes who sacrificed their lives to facilitate peace in our country. The theme for World Childrens’ Day initiatives of these three pioneer institutions focused on paying honour and respect to the ones who were left behind; hence all three armed forces as well as the Police brought together 40 children along with their remaining parent for a memorable day on 1st Oct 2016.

As Rajini Mendis, Chairperson of Ebert Silva Holidays stated, “Today’s experience for the children was to show them what they could aspire to be and also to recognize them as a growing generation that needs tender loving care.”

“In a civil strife, whichever side may call itself the victor, there are no winners, but survivors. The question is not who won the most but who lost the least. Hence the synergy through the three companies gave these children a very happy experience,” stated Mahika Chandrasena, Director Marketing Communications of Galle Face Hotel. “A guest journey is not only about a hotel experience; it is also love, hope and the personal care provided that makes it a memorable experience.”

After arriving at the airport in a double decker bus, the children then headed to an aircraft for a familiarization tour courtesy of the Airport and Aviation Authority. The evening ended with a delectable tea party at the Galle Face Hotel, thus concluding an evening that brought smiles of delight to their faces.
