Sri Lankans are definitely swerving onto the road leading straight to Hollywood! Earlier this year, the news that Sri Lankan, Shalini Peiris would be making an appearance in the upcoming Justice League movie as a Bio Hazard Suit Soldier, broke the internet, at least for us Lankans.
Following in the footsteps of actors and actresses like Shalini and Kala Keerthi Iranganie Serasinghe, we have an all new rising star, Nadee Kammellaweera!
Nadee has made appearances in seven episodes and mentions our wonderful country in episode 4 in novel TV series, The Young Pope. Released on 21 October 2016, the series has managed to snag a 8/10 IMDb rating in just a matter of days!
The Young Pope is TV series based on the controversial tale of the beginning of the pontificate of Lenny Belardo, alias Pius XIII, the first American Pope in history. He is a complex and conflicted character, so conservative in his choices as to border on obscurantism, yet full of compassion towards the weak and poor. The Pope Pius XIII is a man of great power who is stubbornly resistant to the Vatican courtiers, unconcerned with the implications to his authority.
As a part of the show, Nadee has nagged an opportunity to act alongside the much loved and famous Jude Law and Diane Keaton.
Glancing at Nadee’s story, she is the daughter of famous Sri Lankan writer Jayathilaka Kammellaweera and spouse of renowned singer, Kasun Kalhara. She has also been known for her roles played in Dekala purudu kenek (2014), Mother Teresa (2003) and Me mage sandai (2000).
