City lights and beer cocktails!

Overlooking the Beira Lake and Colombo’s skyline, Berlin Sky Lounge is situated above Il Cielo, its Italian sister restaurant. The pub offers an extensive drinks menu inclusive of shooters, mocktails, cocktails, and even beer cocktails (more on that later), while its food menu offers a range of Bavarian style dishes and an array of yummy desserts which really kick your meal up a notch.
What made our experience at Berlin all the more delightful was the killer view! The Colombo skyline along with the restaurant’s splendid rooftop ambience makes it a versatile location, ideal for dates, and even drinks with friends.

Drinks

Margarita – LKR 1090

Berlin Sky Lounge gets their cocktails right! This drink had a perfect blend of tequila, triple sec, and lime juice, and the signature salt hem. They were not stingy with the tequila so for all you tequila lovers, make your way there and pamper yourself with a margarita the next time you are out and about.

Bullfrog – LKR 1690

The price was quite steep but considering the amount of alcohol that went into this drink, we decided it was worth it. This cocktail contained vodka, gin, rum, tequila, triple sec, lemon juice, blue curacao, and red bull. All the elements were definitely apparent but the tequila more so than the rest. No complaints in this department however. Am I right?

Apple Spark – LKR 790

What ignited the most intrigue in us was their selection of beer cocktails on their menu, so out of curiosity we ordered the Apple Spark and we were not disappointed! Consisting of beer, cider, and apple, you would think this would taste a lot like apple cider, but it didn’t. The cocktail had a strong taste of apple but left a beer after taste. There were freshly chopped cubes of apple floating in the drink making it look super pretty too!

Mains

Frikadellen mit Kartoffelsalat – LKR 990

Off their Sausages and Specialties section, we opted for the Frikadellen mit Kartoffelsalat. This dish which translates to meatballs with potato salad was great but won’t be a good buy if you are looking to fill your stomach to your heart’s content. However, this German delicacy made out of mixed beef and pork was flavoursome and serves as great comfort food! Complementing the meatballs was a side of yummy potato salad and a drizzle of German mustard. Overall, the meatballs made for great bites with our drinks.

Berlin Sky Schnitzel – LKR 1490

We went with this German specialty off their Schnitzel and Grills menu and were so glad we did! Super filling with many components to it, this dish was delicious and warm on arrival. First off, the schnitzel was tenderized and fried to perfection! The garlic, onion and mushroom gravy cream sauce which had strings of cheese embedded in it, brought in the flavour and gave the schnitzel that extra oomph it craved. The dish also included a portion of salad with a nice vinaigrette dressing and a side of fries which deserves a special mention because they were seasoned so well!

Dessert

Panna Cotta ai Frutti di Bosco – LKR 540

Presented delectably, taking a bite into this absolutely magnificent cream pudding, we died and went to dessert heaven. It was soft and scented with vanilla, and had a topping of blueberry compote which was not too sweet but just right. It was affordable as well, so this dessert easily gets a 10/10 and we cannot wait to indulge in this again!

Their staff were very attentive but be prepared to wait for about 15 to 20 minutes when they are packed. Everything considered, Berlin Sky Lounge must be on your radar for Colombo nightlife, large cocktails and good food! The amazing view is a bonus!
