The 10th World Choir Games were held in South Africa this year, and The Royal College Choir represented both Sri Lanka and College at this prestigious event. 352 choirs from around the globe sang at the world choir games, and the ensemble from Royal carved Sri Lanka its very own piece of history!
Comprising of 40 Royalists from ages 12 to 19, the The Royal College Choir was awarded Silver Medals in three categories, namely for Mixed Youth Choirs, Pop Choirs, and Folklore with Accompaniments. As the games came to a close in Pretoria, other highlights were South Africa walking away with top honours, winning a total of 76 medals, while China came second with 25 medals, and Russia took home 17.
The incredible team from Royal College, Sri Lanka has indeed shone a spotlight on the talent our country has to offer and made the nation proud.
