Menu

Affordable and downright delicious rotis!

Roti seems to be a favourite amongst the Mirissa-going foreign crowd and the moment we tasted the dishes at No. 1 Dewmini, we understood why. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the beach stretch, this little gem of a restaurant dishes up the most delicious, affordable and filling fare in Mirissa. With dishes ranging from 200 – 500, you’re bound to fill up on a budget here.

Drinks

Peanut Butter Milkshake – LKR 300

We were glad to find something out of the norm on the drinks menu at Dewmini. A tall glass of delicious peanut buttery goodness, this drink was a delicious combination of milk, peanuts and happiness. Served cold, it was ideal for a hot day but watch out, it could fill your tummy up pretty fast!

Watermelon Juice – LKR 220

A little on the pulpy side, the watermelon juice was freshly made and refreshing, especially served in a large portion such as the one we got. We would have liked it to be a little more blended to get rid of all the chunky pieces of watermelon but it sufficed as a good refresher to have in between copious amounts of roti.

Mains

Olive, Mushroom, Cheese and Chicken – LKR 420

We honestly didn’t expect much when we walked into the quaint little roti shop but were eventually blown away by the selection and variety on their menu. To find things as intricate as Olive and Mushroom roti was quite satisfying. The flavor pairings on this dish were quite good, with the elements complimenting each other well. The chicken was a little dry, but the little bits of Happy Cow cheese made up for it, and the filling of the roti was stuffed to the brim with ample pieces of olive, making for a very happy experience.

Egg and Prawn Roti – LKR 260

Again, the fillings on this roti was quite satisfactory as well, but the flavors were slightly too bland for a Sri Lankan palette and the prawn a little too dry. Each roti dish is served with a small portion of parippu and hodi though and if you dip your roti into it, the dish is actually executed pretty well.

Egg Chicken & Vegetable Roti – no cheese – LKR 260

Dewmini is pretty accommodative with their dish alterations as well and readily accepted our request for a dairy-free dish. Stuffed full of carrots, cabbage and capsicum, this classic egg roti was given a delicious new twist and we enjoyed it.

Dessert

Chocolate and Pineapple – LKR 260

Now this here was the highlight of our entire experience at Dewmini. We’ve heard of chocolate and banana and were initially quite skeptic about the chocolate and pineapple combination but when the dish came, we were very satisfied.
Full of delicious dark chocolate and stewed pineapples, the two paired very well together inside the roti and we fantasized about this dish for quite a while even after the review.

The service and staff at Dewmini are so friendly and accommodating, it’s no wonder they have constant repeat customers. The lady managing the floor makes sure all of her customers leave happy and satisfied with their experience.

The dining space at Dewmini is open and airy with multiple seating options able to accommodate large groups of people and overall offers an experience worth going all the way to Mirissa for.

Tip: Definitely try the chocolate and pineapple roti!
