Cowpea Curry | Cooking with Aunty D

Overnight soaked cowpeas 250g

Bombay Onion 1 small

Green Chilli 2 nos

Garlic 3 cloves

Curry Leaves/Rampa

Curry Powder 1 tsp

Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp

Chilli Powder 1 tsp

Salt 1 tsp

Thin Coconut Milk 2 cups

Oil 1 tbsp

Small Red Onions 5 nos

Mustard seeds 1/4tsp

Maldive fish 1 tsp


  1. To a pot, add the soaked cowpeas, bombay onion, green chilli, garlic, curry leaves, Rampa, curry powder, turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt, coconut milk and bring to boil. Cover with a lid.
  2. Add oil, small red onions, garlic (2 cloves), curry leaves, rampa, mustard seeds, maldive fish and fry in a separate pot. Transfer the cooked cowpeas to the pot and mix together.
