Rome Welcomes First Baby of 2019, a Sri Lankan

2019 Jan 3

Ten seconds after the clock struck 12, ringing in 2019, the first baby of the New Year was born at St. Philip Neri’s Hospital in Rome.

The baby was named Italo Bandara, in honour of his birthplace. He even received a visit from the Mayor of Rome, Ms. Virginia Raggi on the first of January, early in the morning!

Born to a Sri Lankan couple who have been living in San Pietro, Rome for the past few years, Prasad Bandara and Madubhashani Yapa ringed in the New Year in the most special way!
