- The Ultimate Nerdo
Embrace the inner nerd in you with a geeky homemade costume.
What you need to do: Wear a pair of glasses and stick a bandage in the middle to heighten the geek effect. Wear suspenders if you have them, or pull your pants or skirt up high and tuck your shirt into it. Remember to wear dowdy and very unsexy clothes. Putting pens and a calculator in your shirt pockets helps as well. Carry around several academic books.
- The Mime
Quite a smart outfit I’d say. The mime costume is for you if you want to give your voice a break for the night and want to express yourself through your actions.
What you need to do: Get some cheap white face paint, and paint your face with it. Wear black clothes or a striped white and black top if you have one. White gloves will complete the outfit, but they aren’t necessary. Add a touch of red to brighten and enliven your outfit; girls, maybe you can tie a red scarf around your neck and boys, maybe a red bowtie or small accessory would do!
- Vampire
These days vampires come in all shapes and sizes, and they are such iconic pop culture figures that there are plenty of TV and movie vampire characters for you to mimic.
What you need to do: Get a pair of fake vampire fangs, and wear foundation that is shades lighter than normal. Be creative and aim to look like vampires from popular TV shows and movies like True Blood. Dribble some fake blood or red food coloring on the side of your mouth. If you’re a vampire that has been turned recently, use dark eyeliner to draw in two holes on your neck.
- The Retro Housewife
Be a cute vintage homemaker with rubber gloves, a spatula, pearls, a floral apron, cat-eye glasses, and a dish towel. Betty Draper, you have some tough competition!
- Audrey Hepburn
You can’t go wrong with Audrey Hepburn’s character in the classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
What you need to do: Get a little black dress, black gloves, a cigarette holder, a tiny tiara, a pearl necklace, and black heels.
- Dead Bride
Have a white dress and a veil lying around? Be a dead bride or bride from hell.
Bonus: paint your face to give it a blue tinge.
- Mary Poppins
Mary Poppins is definitely one supercalifragilisticexpialidocious costume!
What you need to do: Get a black umbrella, long black skirt, white collared button-down shirt, red bow tie, white gloves, black pantyhose, and a black hat.
These few costumes are both easy and exciting to whip up last minute. Have a spooky, fun weekend!
